Any Key Stage 3 course or tuition should generally covers the topics that you would expect a learner at school to cover between the ages of 11 and 14 – although every course, school, and class will be different we use the UK National Curriculum as a foundation.

Our distance learning courses at KS3 focus on Computing, although you can access 1-2-1 tuition for Computing, Maths, & English in person at our Worthing Tuition Centre or online.

KS3 Computing Courses / Lessons Our KS3 Tutors (1-2-1 tuition)

Computing is a subject that covers three main areas: Computer Science, ICT, and Digital Literacy.

What The National Curriculum Says

The national curriculum for computing aims to ensure that all pupils:

  • can understand and apply the fundamental principles and concepts of computer science, including abstraction, logic, algorithms and data representation
  • can analyse problems in computational terms, and have repeated practical experience of writing computer programs in order to solve such problems
  • can evaluate and apply information technology, including new or unfamiliar technologies, analytically to solve problems
  • are responsible, competent, confident and creative users of information and communication technology

Computing Education as Unique as You

There are so many ways to study Computing in Home Education and outside of school, and the resources below have been created as a starting point to make your journey easier, no matter which style of learning you choose.

Sometimes, KS3 is referred to as pre-GCSE in home education as learners may be studying to their ability rather than age. It’s important to remember that as a home educator in the UK, you are not required to follow the national curriculum but must provide an education that is suitable for your child’s age & ability.

If you follow a structured or semi-structured version of home education, then accessing small group courses alongside your everyday learning can help to create a range of learning opportunities.
