IT User Fundamentals
This introduction unit allows new users to IT to understand the basics of their computer system from essential usage to time saving techniques to make you a more skilled IT user. This unit includes the following topics:
  • Using an IT System
  • Creating & Organising Files & Folders
  • Safety & Security of systems and your data
  • Routine Computer Maintenance
Using Email
This introduction unit covers the practical use of email for personal and professional comminication. Both the technical aspects and netiquette are covered in this unit making it an excellent introduction to everyday office skills. This unit includes the following topics:
  • Using email software to compose & send messages
  • Maintaining contact information
  • Managing incoming email
  • Responding appropriately to common email problems
IT Security for Users
This introduction unit helps new and improving IT users to understand and identify potential risks of and to computer systems. This unit includes the following topics:
  • Minimising security risks to systems and data
  • Taking appropriate actions to protect data
  • Understanding and undertaking data backups

Does This Course Include Live Tuition?

The course materials for this course are all online and self-paced. We do offer options for live group courses, and individual tuition. Please get in touch with us at hello@teachallaboutit.uk if you are interested in booking live online tuition.

How Do I Access The Course?

Once you have enrolled, you will be registered with the British Computer Society as an official TeachAllAboutIt Student. Please be aware that this registration may take 2 – 5 working days to process. Once your registration is completed, access to your course will be available through your student login on this website.

Do I need any additional resources / textbooks?

All course materials will be provided to you as part of this course. However, it is expected that you will have access to the software that the course covers: It is assumed that you will have access to the following applications:
  • Microsoft Office (including Outlook)
  • Windows 10 or 11
  • Latest version of Chrome or Firefox

Does The Course Include Practical Skills?

Yes. All courses include practical work throughout the course and you will be guided through interactive activities as you complete each of the Official BCS units.

Do I Have To Sit These Units?

For this qualification, yes. If you would prefer to have more options for units to study, you can enrol for the Level 1 Flexible Award.

When Can I Enrol?

As the ICDL courses are self-paced, students may enrol and start their course at any time. After enrolment, you will be given 12 months to complete the course. However, if you need extra time, options are available to extend your course by 3, 6, or 12 months.

How Do I Sit Assessments?

Exams & practice tests must be booked separately to your course. You may book at sit exams at a time and date that suit you and we offer tests at our Tuition Centre in West Sussex or across the UK by remote invigilation. Please book your test/exams here.
