This course is open to learners of all ages looking for an internationally recognised ICT qualification. All course materials are pre-recorded and studied at your own pace with access to help from specialist ICT / Computing tutors through our online portal.


If you have already completed the Level 1 Awards in IT User Skills, these additional 4 units will help you top up your qualification to the full Level 2 Certficate. Completing a Level 2 ICDL certificate is equivalent to GCSE at a higher pass (4 – 9). Although these are not used for school league tables, they are studied within schools where iGCSEs and equivalent level 2 courses are offered and a preferred option for professional development in the workplace.

Word Processing Software

This comprehensive unit on Microsoft Word encourages learners to make the best use of various aspects of document production. With a focus on productivity, you’ll learn formatting, structure, and keyboard skills.

Spreadsheet Software

This introductory unit on Microsoft Excel introduces learners to using spreadsheet software for presenting and manipulating data. Spreadsheet skills include organising data, analysis, and formatting.

  • Presenting information
  • Formatting data for printing
Presentation Software

This comprehensive unit on Microsoft PowerPoint introduces learners to some of the lesser known features in presentation software that help create professional documents. Throughout this unit, you’ll learn about combining data, graphical assets, and media to create a presentation for a wide variety of purposes. 

This unit includes the following topics:

  • Combining text and multimedia 
  • Creating manual, and automatic slideshows
  • Professional use of animations and sounds
  • Preparing a slideshow for different audiences
  • Dealing with common presentation problems
Improving Productivity Using IT (Level 2)

The purpose of IT is to improve our productivity at home and at work. This unit introduces learners to the ways in which IT systems can improve the quality and content of our work.

This unit includes the following topics:

  • Selecting appropriate software & systems for a task
  • Considering legal consequences when using IT systems
  • Reviewing current processes and making recommendations for change
  • Developing & testing solutions

Does This Course Include Live Tuition?

The course materials for this course are all online and self-paced. We do offer options for live group courses, and individual tuition. Please get in touch with us at hello@teachallaboutit.uk if you are interested in booking live online tuition.


How Do I Access The Course?

Once you have enrolled, you will be registered with the British Computer Society as an official TeachAllAboutIt Student. Please be aware that this registration may take 2 – 5 working days to process. Once your registration is completed, access to your course will be available through your student login on this website.


Do I need any additional resources / textbooks?

All course materials will be provided to you as part of this course. However, it is expected that you will have access to the software that the course covers: It is assumed that you will have access to the following applications:

  • Microsoft Office (including Outlook)
  • Windows 10 or 11
  • Latest version of Chrome or Firefox

Does The Course Include Practical Skills?

Yes. All courses include practical work throughout the course and you will be guided through interactive activities as you complete each of the Official BCS units.

Do I Have To Sit These Units?

For this qualification, yes. If you would prefer to have more options for units to study, you can enrol for the Level 2 Flexible Award.

When Can I Enrol?

As the ICDL courses are self-paced, students may enrol and start their course at any time. After enrolment, you will be given 12 months to complete the course. However, if you need extra time, options are available to extend your course by 3, 6, or 12 months.


How Do I Sit Assessments?

Exams & practice tests must be booked separately to your course. You may book at sit exams at a time and date that suit you and we offer tests at our Tuition Centre in West Sussex or across the UK by remote invigilation. Please book your test/exams here.
